The Russian Spring Punch is a refreshing and bubbly cocktail that embodies the spirit of spring. This delightful drink, composed of vodka, creme de cassis, lemon juice, simple syrup, and sparkling wine, offers a harmonious blend of flavors that tantalize the taste buds.
The history of the Russian Spring Punch can be attributed to the renowned British bartender Dick Bradsell. Bradsell, a pioneer in the cocktail industry, is credited with inventing this iconic drink. In the 1980s, he sought to create a cocktail for some of his personal friends that would capture the essence of spring and bring a burst of freshness to the palate. It is unsure but some people in the industry claim that Bradsell inspiration was from the classic French cocktail, the French 75. Bradsell replaced the gin with vodka and added the distinctive touch of creme de cassis. The result was the birth of the Russian Spring Punch.
Dick Bradsell’s innovative creation quickly gained popularity in the cocktail scene, becoming a favorite choice for those seeking a light and invigorating beverage. The combination of vodka’s crispness, creme de cassis berry notes, lemon juice’s tanginess, and the effervescence of sparkling wine creates a drink that is both refreshing and sophisticated.
Russian Spring Punch has since become a staple in bars and restaurants worldwide, adored by cocktail enthusiasts who appreciate its balanced and invigorating character. It serves as a testament to Dick Bradsell’s creativity and ingenuity, leaving a lasting legacy in the world
