The sour vodka martini includes mixed martini's with very little sugars or sweet alcohols. A high degree of lemon typically make the primary ingredient in sour vodka along with limes and other sour spirits and alcohols such as a Citrus vodka. A sour vodka martini will contain a core vodka ingredient, as opposed to the standard Gin Brands based martini.

Some cocktails in this category may balance the sour with rimmed sugars or sweet 'chasers.' Many drinkers love the sour cocktail and enjoy their bite, often a turn off to super sweet cocktail drinkers (and vice-versa.)
