Riazul Tequila

Riazul is a 100% Blue Agave tequila from Jalisco Mexico. They currently produced a Silver tequila (~$44) which is bottled immediately after distillation and an Añejo (~$53) which is aged in European white oak barrels. Riazul has a Reposado arriving soon.

On Everydaydrinkers.com, where Riazul Silver was reviewed, Capitan Riazul explains why Reposado is coming last in their styles of tequila: Riazul Tequila

“Given the unique profile in our tequilas and since we are trying to make a firm statement towards the sipping of tequila following the shift in the consumption trend in the US was that we introduced the añejo first. Irrespective of the above, more than 75% of tequila is still consumed through a shot or mixed drinks what made the silver the necessary next category. This places the reposado in a “hybrid” zone what left this class the last. Our short but wide experience in people’s desires and tastes have marked the way for an outstanding blend of fine notes what will captivate the palates of the most demanding tequila conoisseurs and enthusiasts alike. 1)

History

In 2000 by Inaki Orozco inherited family and became acquainted with agave specialist Mario Moreno. He decided to grow his own agave and produce his own quality tequila. Unlike most distillers who buy agave from multiple growers, Inaki has complete control over his crop which gives him complete control over the final product.

Riazul brings modern technology to timeless traditional methods to create their tequila. They hunt out baby agave plants with a parental history of high sugar levels and allow them to mature for six years before harvesting.
